Home of John Jenkins and Annie Clarke in Newton, Utah

Home of John Jenkins and Annie Clarke
located at about 200 East Main, a corner lot on the north side of the road
Newton, Utah

John Jenkins and Annie Clarke were married in 1873.  Annie was John's second wife in plural marriage.
This was the home John built for Annie, but the year it was built is not known.
It is unlikely that it was built much before 1900 as that was about the same time he built one identical to it
for his third wife, Maria, about 1/2 mile further east.  The first wife, Mary, had a rock home just south,
across the street from this one.  The wives' first homes were built of logs, with dirt floors and sod roofs.
Annie lived in this home until her death in 1920.

The house originally was a two-story spackled white home.  The front part and a back section were added on by later generations.
