George W. "Old George" MORGAN and Nancy Ann MORGAN
The George W. Morgan line came from Moore Co. NC and migrated through
SC to GA, possible Twiggs Co. He may have fought in the War of 1812.
He was in Wilcox Co. AL by at least 1820 and must have caught "Texas
Fever" because is received a land grant in the Robertson Colony on
9 Sep 1835. Several of the sons of George fought in Texas's
war with Mexico for independence and served as early Texas Rangers.
Under a full moon, on January 1, 1839, Indians massacred Old George,
Nancy and several family members in their cabin. The birth order of
the children is probably not absolutely correct, and it will be
updated as more information is learned. This Morgan line is undoubtedly
descended from John MORGAN and his wife Ann BARBEE because of the
reccurrance of the given name of "Barby".
