Cemetery |
Bob
has photographed all the Gerking graves, as well as many others, in
this venerable old cemetery. He also was part of the effort that began
in 1968 to restore the cemetery from the terrible vandalism
and neglect that was taking place. For our 2003 reunion in Athena, Bob
made certain the cemetery was cleaned up, pathways to graves were
mowed, and the gate was unlocked so members of the Gerking family could
freely visit the cemetery during the weekend.

Umatilla County Pioneer Reunion Names

May
27-28, 1892, Weston, Oregon hosted the First Annual Umatilla County
Pioneer Reunion. It is estimated that 2,500 people attended that first
reunion, and the Registration Book used then and through the years of the reunion has been preserved. Bob is
in the process of copying all those names to his web site.
Although this site isn't yet complete, it gives an idea of the wealth
of information available in the Registration Book. The book is
available for viewing at the Weston Public Library.
