My Album
My album's a lyre, whose delicate chords,
Have never responded to sweeps
Of the fingers-or thrilled with musical words,
That hushed in its bosoms doth sleep.

Ah! Wilt thou not touch each long silent string,
And let them in sweetness express-
The thoughts from thy virtuous breast that spring,
In language that cannot but bless.

Yes! Thou wilt breathe the affectionate strain
Thy bosom of Friendship airflows
Whose melting tones shall our senses enchain
With the bands that love ever throws.

To Miss Mary Ann Carden
Engagement troth
With a ring set in pearls and Diamonds
The pearl! The pearl, so fair and bright,
The emblem true should be,
Of Friendship calm and holy light,
And of its purity.

But love should claim the purer gem,
To represent its worth;
That ornaments the kiakem
Of crowned Kings of earth.

Died
In this town, on Friday noon, Aug 21, of inflamation of the stomach, Mary Ann, wife of Dr. J.S. Park, aged 39 years.
Those who knew her in life speak of her as a lady of rare personal beauty, amiable disposition; generous sympathies, liberal charities and nobleness of heart.  Free of envy and of pride, she lived to be loved by a fond husband and bereaved family.
