Robert Carden, thought to be the son of John Carden, was born around 1630. He died after February 18, 1683/84. Around 1652, he married Elizabeth Moss in Virginia. She was born around 1634 in VA and died after 1688 in VA. Their children were: John, Robert, Elizabeth, and William.

Robert's will is dated 18 Feb 1684, and reads as follows: "In the name
of God Amen. I Robert Carden of the County of Rappa; being sick of
body but of perfect sence & memory do make this my last Will &
Testamt. Imprimis: I bequeath my Soul to God and my body to the dust
and do dispose of my Temporall Estate in manner & forme following:
Item I give and bequeath my land with all the housing orchards gardens
& other appurtinances to my Son, Robert Carden. Item I will that my
Son, Robert Carden, do after my decease immediatly go to live with
Humphrey Davis & his Wife & to continue with them until he attaine
the page of Seventeen years & then to be for himself. Item I will that
Humphrey Davis & his Wife do live in that house now in their possession
and enjoy it with what doth belong to it by my former agreement with them
so longe as they both shall live paying Three hundred pounds of Tobb; and
cask p an Rent to my Exectrs. Item I give unto my Wife Elizabeth, all my
goods & chattells and my Plantation during her life Item I will that
my Debts be paid by my Exectr Item I will ordaine & appoint my loving
Wife, Elizabeth, Executrs of this my last Will & Testament & do
revoke all former Will or Wills by me had &
made & appoint this & none other to be my last Will & Testament.

We the underwritten do depose & say that we did heare Robt Carden
say that he did own this within written Will to be his last Will &
Testamt. & that we did see him signe seale & publish it he being
then to the best of our Judgements in perfect sence & memory &
did declare himself so to be

Proved in Rappa County Court the 6th day of May 1685 by the oaths of
Thos Parker and Wm Jones & recorded the 19th The will is recorded in
deed book 6, pg 48. The names of his children were obtained from deed
of gift and will. The deed of gift is recorded in "Old" Rappahannock
Co., VA deed book 6, pgs 138 & 139. In it he gives his son John
1 cow that was given him by Thomas Moss, dec'd. He gives to his daughter,
Elizabeth, a cow which was given to her by Elizabeth Moss, relict of
Thomas Moss, dec'd., and a cow which was given to her by Joseph Curzons.
He gives to son Robert a cow & a calf. This deed was dated 13 Aug 1681.
In (Old) Rappahannock County Orders on the 4th of June 1684,
"Ordered that Robert Cardin pay to John Herbert fower hundred and sixty
two pounds of tob and cask due in Ball of a bill bearing date the 16th
May 1683 to be paid with costs of suite als Exec".
