(16) Omer E. Briggs

Born:  In 1855.  Son of Walter Briggs (1833-1881) and Rhoenna Goodwin (b. 1834), (daughter of Charles Goodwin of Middlebury).

Died:  In 1935 of cancer.

Married: Saphrona (1860-1946)

Children:  (1st) Louis Newton (1902-1962).  See (17) Louis Newton Briggs.

               (2nd) Florence (Flora) married Owen Barrett (an ordained Methodist minister), in 1970 he was 80 years old and lived in Troy, PA.  Florence and Owen had a son (Seymour Barrett) who lived in Tioga, PA.

               (3rd) Floyd, lived in Towanda, PA.  Moved to Rochester, NY., Floyd had a daughter.

Omer lived in Towanda, PA in 1870 (age 14) and ran the farm for his mother.  Omer and Saphrona moved to Saco,  Ulster Township, Bradford County.  Omer and Saphrona are both buried in Glenwood cemetery, Troy Township, Bradford County, PA.  Both names are on the same stone and her name is spelled "Soparonia".

Below are the only known pictures of Omer and Saphrona.  They appear to be throwing snow balls.
