Burch Family History...
I am researching a second line to see if it
connects to William and Mary. This second line is the family of Sue
Stone, a Burch by birth and a friend of cousin Michelle (Burch) Bodtke. Wouldn't it be neat to find that these great friends are also cousins!
This line so far has been traced back to Jesse W. Burch. Jesse was born
in 1843, probably in Widner Twp., Knox Co., IN (but possibly in
Tenneessee).
Jesse W.Burch married Elizabeth E. Light, the daughter of Russell and
Mary (Hollingsworth) Light, on January 4, 1863, most likely in Widner
Twp., Knox Co., IN. Elizabeth was born in 1843 in Widner Twp.
Jesse served as a Private in Co. B, 33rd Indiana Infantry during the Civil War.
The 1850, 1860 and 1870 Federal Census' show Jesse living in Widner Twp., Knox Co., IN.
Sometime during the 1870s Jesse and family were living in Illinois. Their second and third children were born in that state.
They are found in Witchita, Sedgewick Co., KS in the 1880 Census and the 1890 Census was lost in a fire.
I have not been able to locate him in the Census from 1900-1930, but
have also found no death records, so I do not know when or where he or
Elizabeth died or are buried.
Jesse and Elizabeth had three children:
Alice Burch born 1866 in Knox Co., IN. No further info at this time.
Uknown first name Female Burch. No further info at this time.
John Winfield Burch mar. Henrietta Willis
