JAMES HARRIS, son of Thomas Harris and Phoebe HARRISON was
born 12 Oct 1765 in Essex county, New Jersey. He married
Abigail HUSTED? ca. 1786. He died in November 1831. His
will is dated 14 September 1831 and probated in Preble
County, Ohio in 1832. [Will book B, p. 245] At the time of
his death he lived in Dixon township and is buried in
Friendship Cemetery in Gaspar Township. Abigail died in 1845.

PHEBE HARRIS daughter of James Harris and Abigail _____? was
born ca. 1786 in New Jersey. She married 1st Michael NICCUM
Jr. 13 November 1802 in Garrard County, Kentucky. Michael
died 25 August 1835 in Kankakee County, Illinois. Phebe then
married Wright GRIGGS 9 November 1837 in Vermilion County,
Illinois. Phebe was still alive in 1870 as she was living
with her son James Niccum per 1870 census and her age was
stated as 84. Phebe and Michael Niccum had eight children.

September 1812 in Preble County, Ohio. She was the daughter
of Moses DOOLEY and Mary BOYD. He married 2nd Elizabeth
DENNY 24 December 1833 in Preble County, Ohio. Thomas died 4
February 1866 in Preble County and is buried in Mound
Cemetery in Preble County. Nancy and Thomas had five children
and Thomas and Elizabeth had two children.

Township Preble County lists three males under 10 years of
age.

NANCY HARRIS, daughter of James Harris and Abigail _________?
was born ca. 1795 in Kentucky. She married Richard BOOKER 22
December 1818 in Preble County, Ohio. Richard died 11
September 1855 in Preble County and is buried in Friendship
Cemetery, Preble County. They had foour children.

JAMES HARRIS, son of James Harris and Abigail _________? was
born 26 March 1798 in Kentucky. He married Elizabeth DOOLEY
25 September 1816 in Preble County, Ohio. She was born 15
January 1799 daughter of Reuben DOOLEY and Leah RAILSBACK.
James died 12 Mar 1876 in Andrews County, Missouri and is
buried in Savannah, Andrews County, Missouri. Elizabeth died
14 January 1870 at same place and is buried alongside her
husband. They had ten children all born in Preble County,
Ohio except the last, Martha who was born in Platte County,
Missouri.

COURTLAND HARRIS, son of James Harris and Abigail Husted?
was born 21 September 1810 in Ohio and died 14 September 1897
in Lowery, California. He married Mary Frances SWANK in 1827,
daughter of John SWANK and Elizabeth WALLACE. She was born 1
October 1810 and died 5 June 1903 at Baskenta, California.
Cortland and Mary left Decatur County, Iowa and went to
California in 1874, and settled in Tehama County. They had
eleven children.

Courtland Harris, age 86 died at the home of his son, O.W.
Harris near Lowrey, Tuesday the 15th of Brights disease. He
came to this state from Ohio in 1874. His remains will be
interred in the Cemetery at Lowrey.

DEATH COMES TO GRANDMA HARRIS (Mary Swank Harris)

At The Age Of Ninety-Three She Dies At Her Home Near Paskenta
And Is Buried At The Church Yard At Lowrey

"Grandma" Harris died at the home of her son S.F. Harris, in
Paskenta, at noon on August 2nd, and was buried in the little
church-yard near Lowrey at noon on August 3rd.

Assembled around her bier to pay the last tribute of sincere
respect to the memory of a good woman, and particitate in the
beautiful funeral rites, were not only friends and neighbors
but many of her children, grandchildren and great grand-
children, to the fifth generration.

Grandma's favorite songs were sung by a selected choir, and
there was a profusion of flowers.

The deceased had nearly completed her ninety-third year. Her
maiden name was Mary Swank. At the age of eighteen she
married Courtland Harris, with whom she lived sixty-eight
years, and who passed to the "great beyond" but seven years
ago, and by whose side her remains were laid for the long
last sleep. Their's had been a "love match" and a happy
marriage. Eleven children were born to them. The first one
died in infancy, but the other ten all lived to maturity and
were married, eight of whom are still living. Besides which
there are also living fifty-two grandchildren and as many
more great-grandchildren. The children still living are O.W.
Harris of Lowrey and S.F. Harris of Paskenta in this County;
John Harris of San Jose, Thomas Harris of Willows, Mrs. Sarah
Pitman of Kansas, Mrs. Emmilene Elkins of Santa Rosa, Mrs.
Mary Stevens of Kansas and James harris of Pomona,
California.

ABIGAIL H. NICCUM, daughter of Phebe Harris and Michael
Niccum Jr. was born 12 November 1813 in Ohio and went to
Vermilion County, Illinois at the age of eight with her
parents. She married Rev. Rawley Morgan MARTIN 16 July 1835.
He was born 27 February 1816 in Monongalia County, Virginia
and came to Illinois in 1820. He died 29 October 1878 in
Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois and is buried in the
Springhill Cemetery. He was the son of Henry and Mary MORGAN.
Abigail died 17 October 1899 and buried at same place.
Abigail and Rawley had eleven children all born in Vermilion
County, Illinois.

1860. He was born 16 April 1827, in Mercer County, Kentucky,
son of Peter COSAT and Nancy TUMEY. Samuel died 20 Feb 1912
in Ross township, Vermilion County, Illinois and is buried in
the Johnson Cemetery. Nancy died 7 October 1885 and is buried
in Johnson Cemetery. They had five children all born in
Vermilion County, Illinois.

County, Illinois. She married John Alexander McCONNELL 2
November 1887 in Henning. He was born 15 January 1867, son of
Joseph Wilson McConnell and Minerva Ann SEELEY, in Rockville,
Parke County, Indiana.

He died 23 April 1951 in Lafayette, Tippecanoe County,
Indiana and is buried there in Springvale Cemetery. Nellie
died 15 April 1961 at West Point, Tippecanoe County, Indiana,
and is buried in Springvale. Six children:

1923, daughter of Lewis Alfred Flutro and Lola Wilda MOORE.
She was born 22 Oct 1904 in Milford, Iroquois County,
Illinois. Wayne died 14 October 1982 in Grand Rapids, Itasca
County, Minnesota and is buried in Springvale Cemetery in
Lafayette, Indiana. They had two children:

September 1945. He was born 17 October 1925 in Lafayette, son
of Walter Earl Bugher and Lillie Victoria FELDNER. He was a
first Lieutenant during World War II, Marine Corps. They

JOHN SWANK HARRIS, son of Cortland Harris and Mary Frances
SWANK was born 17 September 1830 in Madison County, Ohio. He
married Amanda Malvina TUCKER 23 October 1851 daughter of Ira
Thomas TUCKER and Elizabeth LEEPER. She was born 16 December
1830 in Fairmont, W. Virginia. John died 1 January 1914 in
Campbell, California. Amanda died 20 April 1922 at Alameda,
California. Both are buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in San
Jose, California. They had ten children:

Paskenta, Tehama County, CA. Mary was born 14 September 1845
in Indiana and died 1 June 1932 in Watsonville, Santa Cruz
County, CA. They had six children:

OLIVER WALLACE HARRIS, son of Cortland Harris and Mary
Frances SWANK was born 28 February 1845 in Warren County,
Indiana. He married Margaret Frances CARTER 22 November 1862
in Princeton, Mercer County, Missouri. She was born 13 March
1844 in Iowa, daughter of Charles and Eliza Jane CARTER.
Margaret died 7 April 1932 in Red Bluff, Tehama County, CA.
Oliver died 4 September 1914 in Lowrey, Tehama County, CA. He
was buried in Lowrey, reinterred and buried beside Margaret
in Oak Hill Cemetery, Red Bluff, Tehama Co., CA. in 1932.
Oliver and Margaret had six children.

Oliver served in the Civil War as a private in Company "F",
eighth Regiment of Cavalry from 24 June 1863 until 13 August
1865.

PAUL ELBERT HARRIS, son of Lewis F. Harris and Hazel JONES
was born 15 June 1939 in San Miguel, California. He married
Nancy Carol KELLEY. They had four children;

LAURENCE EARL HARRIS, son of Lewis F. Harris and Hazel JONES
was born 22 June 1940 in San Miguel, California. He married
Gertrude LEDAL. They had one child.

MARY FRANCES HARRIS, daughter of Oliver W. Harris and
Margaret Frances CARTER was born 15 September 1863 in Leon,
Decatur Co., IL. She married Charles Sumner BEALL 28
September 1879 in Lowrey, Tehama Conty, CA. He was born 11
May 1855 in Clark County, Illinois son of David BEALL and
Elizabeth HANDY. Mary died 26 November 1933 in Red Bluff, CA.
and Charles died 2 April 1936 in Red Bluff and both are
buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Red Bluff. They had three
children.

1. James Ellis Beall b. 2 Jly 1880 d. 29 Mar 1921
m. Minnie Lee GADDIS 24 Feb 1901b. 19 Jan 1881 d. 30 Jan 1970
(Minnie, daughter of McDonald GADDIS and Anna McConnell
BASHORE, both buried in Oak Hill.)

2. Albert Martin Beall b. 20 Feb 1883 d. 22 Mar 1949
m. Nora Etta BURT 6 Apr 1904 Red Bluff, CA.

3. David Wallace Beall b. 21 Feb 1887 d. 16 Jan 1958
(never married, buried at Oak Hill)

CLARINDA ISABELL "Kate" HARRIS, daughter of Oliver W. Harris
and Margaret F. CARTER was born 28 April 1867 in Lowrey, CA.
She married Hugh Franklin WAKEFIELD 12 April 1890. She died
20 March 1950 in Fresno, CA., where she is buried. Clarinda
and Hugh had two children:

1. Chester Kenneth Wakefield b. 31 Jan 1891 d. 1982
m. Emma Josephine BRAMBLETT 19 Sep 1914 Fresno, CA.

2. Cecil Ray Wakefield b. 12 Aug 1895 d. 26 Dec 1949

NORA OLIVE HARRIS, daughter of Oliver W. Harris and Margaret
F. CARTER was born 19 July 1875 in Paskenta, Tehama County,
California. She married Omar Benjamin WHEELER 20 October
1897 in Red Bluff, CA. Nora died 3 April 1942 in Dunsmuir,
Siskiyou County, CA., and buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Red Bluff,
California. Nora and Omar had one child:

1. Ada May Wheeler b. 28 Sep 1898 d.
m. Roy Franklin WILSON 24 Sep 1919 in Redding, Shasta Co., CA

MARGARET MAY HARRIS, daughter of Oliver W. Harris and
Margaret F. CARTER was born 2 Mar 1878 in Lowrey, CA. She
married William Herbert GRAY 26 June 1895 in Red Bluff, CA.
Margaret died 5 April 1950 in San Francisco and is buried at
Oak Hill Cemetery in Red Bluff. They had three children:

2. Minerva Gray b. 11 Jly 1899 d.
