This document is to provide information on the Boyd family.  Most of this information
comes from the works of Francis Orsemus Boyd, the grandson of Orsemus Bronson Boyd.
However, a lot of it is my own work.

 For more information on Orsemus B. Boyd, please refer to the book,  "Calvary Life in
Tent and Field," by Mrs. Orsemus B. Boyd.
 

                                   The Boyd Family

1.  William Boyd was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on March 15, 1750.  He was a
Corporal and "patriot soldier in the Revolution," having enlisted in 1776.  In January of
1777 he married Margary Taylor, of Newington, Connecticut.  She was born on March 7,
1758.  She supposedly came from a long line of Taylor's in Connecticut.  William and
Margary left Cambridge with three children and settled in West Springfield, Massachusetts,
where seven more children were born.  William died in West Springfield on May 25, 1840
and Margary in 1834.  William and Margary had ten children.  The first three were born in
Cambridge, the rest in West Springfield.   Children:

3.  Amos Boyd (William) was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1785, the son of
William Boyd and Margary Taylor.  He moved to West Springfield, with his parents in
1788.  He was married on November 22, 1811 to Celestia Steel.  Celestia was born in
Massachusetts in 1789.  ***NOTE: some sources of information state her maiden name as
Adams, mainly Henry Boyd's Pension records and death certificate.  Amos was a farmer
who in February of 1817 moved to a farm in Croton, now Treadwell, Delaware County,
New York.  He bought 125 acres of land.  Amos died on July 11, 1862.  His wife Celestia
died on July 21, 1867.  Both are buried in Croton Union Cemetery in Treadwell, New York.

12.  Henry Boyd (William, Amos) was born in West Springfield, Massachusetts on April
2, 1816, the son of Amos Boyd and Celestia Steel.  At age 18 he started teaching school in
Croton, New York.  On September 4, 1838 he married Eliza Jane Bronson, daughter of
Orsemus Bronson and Hester Perlop.  Eliza was born in 1816 in Treadwell, New York
and died on July 1, 1850 and is buried in Croton Union Cemetery.  They had two children
from this marriage.  He was married a second time to Lydia H. Baldwin on March 4, 1851
by Reverend William Burnside.  She was born on March 14, 1832 in Wilson, New York.
She died on October 22, 1911 at Wilson, New York.  Henry was in the mercantile business
at Croton from 1844 to 1849.  He served in the Anti-Rent War and the Civil War.  He
enlisted in Company D, 144th Regiment, New York Volunteer Infantry, on August 29,
1862.  He was discharged at Hilton Head, South Carolina on June 8, 1865.  He was an
active member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Croton.  He was an overseer of the
poor for 12 years.  Henry died on June 1, 1888 and is buried in Croton Union Cemetery.

13.  Emily Boyd (William, Amos) was born probably in West Springfield, Massachusetts,
the daughter of Amos Boyd and Celestia Steel.  She was married to a Levi Miles and had
eight children.  Children:

14.  Harriet Boyd (William, Amos) was born probably in West Springfield, Massachusetts,
the daughter of Amos Boyd and Celesta Steel.  She was married to an Andrew Jackson and
had four children.   Children:

15.  Sophronia Boyd (William, Amos) was born probably in West Springfield,
Massachusetts, the daughter of Amos Boyd and Celesta Steel.  She was married to an
Orson Georgia and had three children:

16.  Amos A. Boyd (William, Amos, Henry) was born about 1842 in Croton, Delaware
County, New York, the son of Henry Boyd and Eliza Jane Bronson.  Amos enlisted in
Company D, 144th New York volunteer infantry.  He enlisted at Franklin, New York on
August 27, 1862 and became a Corporal.  Amos died from illness at Upton's Hill, Virginia
on January 9, 1863.

17.  Orsemus Bronson Boyd (William, Amos, Henry) was born in July of 1844 in Croton,
Delaware County, New York, the son of Henry Boyd and Eliza Jane Bronson.  He entered
the Civil war when he joined the Eighty-ninth New York Volunteer infantry on September
1, 1861.  He served until July 1, 1863, when he was appointed a Cadet in the United States
Military Academy.  He saw active service and was mentioned for gallantry at Roanoke
Island, North Carolina.  He entered the West Point Military Academy and graduated in the
class of 1867.  During this time he was accused of stealing money.  This was perpetrated
by John Joseph Casey.  Orsemus Boyd was found innocent of this crime, but continued to
go through West Point.  He was ridiculed by his classmates and forced to wear a sign that
called him a coward and a thief.  On his death bed, Casey finally confessed to the crime,
thus clearing Orsemus' name. ***NOTE: This scandal is explained in detail in the
beginning of "Calvary Life in Tent and Field".  On October 9, 1867 at the residence of
James H. Gibney, Orsemus was married to Frances Anne Mullen, daughter of John Mullen
and Frances Land, by Reverend Hasbronck DuBois.  Frances was born on February 14,
1848 in New York City.  She died on May 2, 1926 in Elizabeth, New Jersey and is buried
in Treadwell, New York.  Both of her parent were from Ireland and she had two brothers,
one of which was named James.  Orsemus was promoted to Second Lieutenant of the 8th
Calvary on June 17, 1867.  He served at Camp Halleck, Nevada from November 15, 1867
to January of 1869.  He was then promoted to First lieutenant.  During this time he was
assigned to California and New Mexico.  On June 26, 1882 he was promoted to Captain of
the 8th Calvary.  During this time he did frontier duty at San Antonio, Texas and at Ft.
Clark, Texas.  Orsemus died at Grafton, New Mexico on July 23, 1885.  He is buried in the
National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.  He had three children.  More on Orsemus B. Boyd

18.  Lavelle Henry Boyd (William, Amos, Henry) was born on January 10, 1852 in Croton,
Delaware County, New York, the son of Henry Boyd and Lydia H. Baldwin.  He married
to Margaret Lewis a sister of Colonel Lewis in Kansas.  Margaret was born on August 6,
1849 in Hamden, New York.  She died on Janaury 27, 1908 in Russell, Kansas.  Lavelle
lived in Hays City, Kansas and later in Russell, Kansas.  He was a post master in Russell,
Kansas.  He died on August 13, 1928 in Russell, Kansas.  Children:

19.  Alverda M. Boyd (William, Amos, Henry) was born in Treadwell, New York, the
daughter of Henry Boyd and Lydia H. Baldwin.  She was married to John Schermerhorn.
They had one child.  I believe this line lived in Franklin, New York.   Children:

20.  Ella J. Boyd (William, Amos, Henry) was born in Treadwell, New York, the daughter
of Henry Boyd and Lydia H. Baldwin.  She was married to Irving Van Tassle.  They had
two children. I believe this line lived in Franklin, New York.

21.  Grace L. Boyd (William, Amos, Henry) was born in Treadwell, New York, the
daughter of Henry Boyd and Lydia H. Baldwin.  She was married to Dr. John Moore.  They
had two children.  I believe this line lived in Franklin, New York.   Children:

37.  Mabel Boyd (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus) was born in San Francisco, California
on March 16, 1869, the daughter of Orsemus Bronson Boyd and Frances Anne Mullen.  She
attended St. Mary's Episcopal School in San Antonio, and later Spence School in New
York City.  She taught typing at a business school in New York and lived in an apartment at
177 MacDougal St.  She also rented a small house.  She never married, but at the time of
her death in 1933, the church was filled with thousands of her friends.  She is buried in
Croton Union Cemetery in Treadwell, New York.

38.  James William Boyd (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus) was born on the family farm
in Treadwell, Delaware County, New York on November 17, 1871, the son of Orsemus
Bronson Boyd and Frances Anne Mullen.  He was a chemist in a chemical plant in New
York City.  He was short and very fat according to family members and a great cook.
There was a hint of antagonism between him and his mother, because Frances Boyd
cultivated Henry as her favorite child.  He was married to Adelaide Teresa Wilton,
daughter of Charles Wilton and Elizabeth Moore.  Adelaide was born on May 28, 1867 in
Washington D.C.  She was a book keeper.  She died on November 1, 1937 in Waynesville,
North Carolina and is buried in Greenhill Cemetery in North Carolina.  James died on June
21, 1916 in Waynesville and is buried in Greenhill Cemetery.  He had two children.  Both
born in Washington D.C.   Children:

39.   Henry Boyd (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus) was born in Fort Clark, Texas on
September 4, 1877, the son of Orsemus Bronson Boyd and Frances Anne Mullen.  He was
married on March 2, 1901 in Washington D.C. to Mary Emilia Stroup, daughter of
Lawrence Kulp Stroup and Mary Campbell Holliday.  She was born at the National
Soldiers Home in Dayton, Ohio in 1870.  Henry enjoyed camping and picnicking.  Henry
and his sons created the Boyd Mortgage Co. in 1928 with money inherited from his
grandmother, Frances Boyd.  However this dream was crushed by the 1929 Great
Depression.  Henry died in Morristown, New Jersey on October 22, 1934 and is buried in
the Croton Union Cemetery in Treadwell, New York.   Children:

53.   Frances Boyd (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, James) was born in Washington
D.C. on May 21, 1898, the daughter of James William Boyd and Adelaide Teresa Wilton.
She was married in Dallas, Texas on June 23, 1916 to Andrew Phelps McCormick.  They
had one child.  She was later remarried in New York City on August 1, 1923 to Benjamin
Risher Sleeper, son of William Markham Sleeper and Laura Risher, grandson of Fabius
Hoyt Sleeper.  Frances Sleeper attended schools in Europe.  She was a member of League
of Women Voters, the Women's Club and St. Paul's Episcopal Church.  Frances died on
March 24, 1984 in Waco, Texas.  She is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Waco.  Ben
Sleeper was born on December 11, 1894 in Waco, Texas.  He attended the University of
the South at Sewanee, Tennessee, and earned a bachelor of laws degree from the
University of Texas in 1919.  Be began practicing law at Breckenridge, moving to Waco in
1922 to join his family's law firm.  At the time of his death he was senior partner of
Sleeper, Williams, Johnston, Helm and Estes, the successor to his grandfather's and father's
firm.  He also taught at Baylor Law School.  He as a veteran of both world wars.  He
served as an infantry captain in World War I and in the Judge Advocate General's Office in
England and France during World War II.  He was a past president of the Waco-McLennan
County Bar Association.  His professional affiliations included the State Bar of Texas and
the American Judicature Society, and he was a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.  He
was a member of the Philosophers' Club and a vestryman at St. Paul's Episcopal Church,
where he taught Bible class.  Ben Sleeper died on November 5, 1972 and like his wife is
buried in Oakwood Cemetery.

54.   Elizabeth Boyd (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, James) was born in Washington
D.C. on May 18, 1899, the daughter of James William Boyd and Adelaide Teresa Wilton.
She married her first husband Wolfram Charles Franklin Day (Franklin Day) son of
Charles Halberstadt Day and Gertrude Marianna Charlotte Braune on November 17, 1920
in Waynesville, North Carolina.  They had two children.  They were divorced on April 3,
1936 by the Second Judicial District Court of Nevada.  On September 16, 1941, she
remarried to Gilbert Alexander Outerbridge of Bailey's Bay, Bermuda.  They had no
additional children.  I believe Elizabeth was a chemist like her father.  Elizabeth died in
Portsmouth, Virginia on November 25, 1962.  She is buried in Greenhill Cemetery in
Waynesville, North Carolina.

55.  Henry Stroup Boyd (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, Henry) was born in Summit,
New Jersey on March 9, 1902, the son of Henry Boyd and Mary Emilia Stroup.  He was
married on October 20, 1928 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Marion Rose Bauerman, of
Elizabeth, New Jersey.  They had two children.    Children:

56.  James Lawrence Boyd (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, Henry) was born in
Boonton, New Jersey on January 15, 1904, the son of Henry Boyd and Mary Emilia Stroup.
He was married in Elizabeth, New Jersey on June 30, 1932 to Lois Gertrude Perry, of
Elizabeth, New Jersey.  James died on February 4, 1989 in Boonton, New Jersey.  They
had four children.   Children:
 

57.  Francis Orsemus Boyd (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, Henry) was born in
Boonton, New Jersey on May 18, 1907, the son of Henry Boyd and Mary Emilia Stroup.
He was married at Caldwell, New Jersey on September 21, 1940, to Ruth Elizabeth Beech
of Caldwell, New Jersey.  They had three children.
 

58.  Mary Lydia Boyd (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, Henry) was born in Boonton,
New Jersey on August 13, 1909, the daughter of Henry Boyd and Mary Emilia Stroup.  She
was married at Boonton, New Jersey on August 13, 1936 to Barhyt Bonnell of Elizabeth,
New Jersey.  They had no children.

59.  Adelaide McCormick (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, James, Frances) was born on
July 26, 1918 in New York City, the daughter of Andrew Phelps McCormick and Frances
Boyd.  She was married first to William Prather Davis and then to Andrew Lang.  I know
Andrew Lang died before 1968.  Adelaide lived in New Orleans.  I know she died in
October of 1985 in Albany, New York.  Her two children were born in Waco, Texas.
 

60.  Elizabeth Day Sleeper (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, James, Frances) was born
on May 1, 1924 in Waco, Texas, the daughter of Benjamin Risher Sleeper and Frances
Boyd.  She died on June 26, 1939 and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas.

61.  Martha Margaret Sleeper (Patty) (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, James, Frances)
was born on August 6, 1926 in Waco, Texas, the daughter of Benjamin Risher Sleeper and
Frances Boyd.  She was married on January 29, 1947 in Raton, New Mexico to Robert
Charles Jeep.  I believe she still lives in the Waco, Texas area.
 

 62.  Beatrix Gertrude Day (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, James, Elizabeth) was born
on September 22, 1922 in New York City, the daughter of Wolfram Charles Franklin Day
and Elizabeth Boyd.  She worked as a horse groomer and trainer for George Diedeman
before going out on her own in 1968.  Following her retirement in 1981, she worked as a
groom at Sagamore Farm.  Later in life she attended school at Harford Community College
and later at Towson State University.  According to one family member she was a "Jack of
all trades, but a master of none.", meaning she knew a little bit about many things.  She
often prided herself on her intelligence.  She was married on January 12, 1942 to Donald
Learmont Spedon, they were divorced on April 9, 1945 in Elko, Nevada.  She was then
married on April 20, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland to Charles Livermore Canedy, son of
Charles Malcolm Canedy and Marcia Janet Livermore.  They had three children.  Charles
was born on February 11, 1919 in New Rochelle, New York.  On January 5, 1988, Beatrix
suffered the first of many debilitating strokes.  She died on April 26, 1989 and is buried in
Parkwood Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland.  Charles died on August 14, 1996 in Fallston,
Maryland and is also buried in Parkwood Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland.

63.  William Franklin Day (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, James, Elizabeth) was born
on July 22, 1925 in New York City, the son of Wolfram Charles Franklin Day and
Elizabeth Boyd.  William Day is best known for being the family black sheep.  Several
letters in family possession refer to Franklin Day hiring several Psychologist to help
William Day.  William Day served as a radio operator in the United States Marine Corp.
He was also an investigative reporter.  He was married to Ruth ______?  who was a friend of
Eula Walker Day, Franklin Day's third wife.   William Day died on February 5, 1980 in
Norfolk, Virginia.

64.  Nancy Anne Boyd (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, Henry, Henry) was born on
November 25, 1938 in Orange, New Jersey, the daughter of Henry Stroup Boyd and
Marion Rose Bauerman.  She was married to Glenn E. McNitt II, of Hamilton, Michigan, in
Boonton, New Jersey on August 6, 1960.

65.  Robert Henry Boyd (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, Henry, Henry) was born on
January 18, 1948 in Morristown, New Jersey, the son of Henry Stroup Boyd and Marion
Rose Bauerman.  He is married to Jean Treadway.  He currently lives in Boonton, New
Jersey.

 66. Carol Lois Boyd (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, Henry, James) was born on July 6,
1933, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the daughter of James Lawrence Boyd and Lois Gertrude
Perry.  She was married to Dale Leonard Zabel of Montclair, New Jersey at Boonton, New
Jersey on November 28, 1953.  She was married a second time to Andrew Catacchio.

68.  Douglas Perry Boyd (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, Henry, James) was born on
November 25, 1941 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the son of James Lawrence Boyd and Lois
Gertrude Perry.  He is married to Margory Abel.

69.  William Henry Boyd (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, Henry, James) was born on
April 3, 1955 in Morristown, New Jersey, the son of James Lawrence Boyd and Lois
Gertrude Perry.  He was married to Robyn Zeitlin of West Orange, New Jersey.  They had
three children.  James was born in Orange, New Jersey.  Sean was born in New
Brunswick, New Jersey.   

 70.  Jeffrey Howard Boyd (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, Henry, Francis) was born on
November 13, 1943 in Morristown, New Jersey, the son of Francis Orsemus Boyd and
Ruth Elizabeth Beech.  He is married to Patricia Turner.  They had one child.  Jeffrey is a
Doctor and currently lives in New Haven, Connecticut.   

72.  Wayne Edward Boyd (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, Henry, Francis) was born on
April 23, 1953 in Morristown, New Jersey, the son of Francis Orsemus Boyd and Ruth
Elizabeth Beech.  He was married twice.  First to Vipramukhya Dasa Brahmarari.  Second
to Gloria Medina.  

74.  Donald Benjamin Davis (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, James, Frances, Adelaide)
was born on May 8, 1943 in Waco, Texas, the son of William Prather Davis and Adelaide
McCormick.  He was married to Nancy Degman.  I believe he currently lives in the Waco,
Texas area.

75.  Elizabeth Jeep (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, James, Frances, Martha) was born
on August 31, 1948, the daughter of Robert Charles Jeep and Martha Margaret Sleeper.
She is married to William Lance Coisbie, Jr.  They had one child.   

76.  Robert Charles Jeep (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, James, Frances, Martha) was
born on July 27, 1954 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Robert Charles Jeep and Martha
Margaret Sleeper.  Robert was murdered while trying to break up a bar fight on July 14,
1973 in Waco, Texas.  He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas.

77.  Robin Frances Jeep (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, James, Frances, Martha) was
born on July 27, 1954 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Robert Charles Jeep and
Martha Margaret Sleeper.  She was a model for the Ford agency.

78.  Marcia Elizabeth Canedy (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, James, Elizabeth,
Beatrix) was born on March 14, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Charles
Livermore Canedy and Beatrix Gertrude Day.  She was married on August 5, 1966 to Bill
Richard Novak, son of Frank Novak and Margaret Mihaly.  Bill was born on May 30, 1943
in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.  Bill and Marcia currently live in Fallston, Maryland.   

79.  Charles Malcolm Canedy II (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, James, Elizabeth,
Beatrix) was born on April 8, 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Charles Livermore
Canedy and Beatrix Gertrude Day.  He was married twice.  First to MaryJo Cipriotti,
daughter of Charles Cipriotti.  They were married in St. Matthrews Church by Msgr. Clare
O'Dwyer on November 4, 1973.  They were divorced in 1989.  He was then married to
Kathleen Marshall Fergusson on November 17, 1990.  He had no children in either
marriage.  Malcolm and Kathy currently live in Fallston, Maryland.

80.  Elizabeth Day Canedy (William, Amos, Henry, Orsemus, James, Elizabeth, Beatrix)
was born on January 17, 1951 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Charles Livermore
Canedy and Beatrix Gertrude Day.  She was married in Orkney Islands, Scotland on August
24, 1973 to Martin John Wishart, son of John Edward Wishart and Margot Mourse.  Martin
was born on March 11, 1954 in Orphir, Orkney Island, Scotland.  Day and Martin currently
live in Orphir.
