The Home Demonstration club met with Mrs. Odell Walls Tuesday, with Mrs. Jim Maples, Mrs. Bill Carpenter and Mrs. Shelby Rich as co-hostesses. Mrs. Ollie Treece, Mrs. Newton Smith and Mrs. Harvey Keel were new members.

Sammy Maples, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Maples, is ill with pneumonia at his home.

After serving his enlistment in the U. S. Army in Montgomery, Carlton Schrimsher is home for a few months.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Craig and Mrs. Doran Patrick attended church in Huntsville Sunday.

The Owens Cross Roads Basketball team defeated the New Hope team Monday Afternoon.

James R. Spivey and W. H. Homer have returned from Birmingham. They were members of the Federal grand jury.

Miss Jamie Russell of Hobbs Island spent Sunday with Miss Dorothy Glover.

Mr. and Mrs. Vaugh Carithers have returned to their home in Decatur after a brief visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Claud.

Mrs. James R. Spivey and children have returned home from a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Ward, at Grant.

Mr . and Mrs. Arnold Phillips announce the birth of a son. He has been named Jimmy Arnold.

MR. and Mrs. Gordon Baker of Miami, Florida, are visiting Mrs. Richard Brannum.
