MEET JEAN-Wife, mother, grandmother, traveler, and writer; keeper of logs and journals; ingenious and tireless genealogical researcher, and imaginative entrepreneur who starts projects for the rest of us to finish. Jean was a part-time employee in the Grace Keith Genealogical collection of the (Washington Co.) Fayetteville Public Library until her retirement in August of 2004. (Notes by Dennis)

UPDATE 1997: After a brief "retirement" in 1994, I returned to the genealogical collection on a part-time basis, a well-liked situation that kept me close to the "Root Cellar"! I also like to 'get creative' in my kitchen, and Dennis is always grateful; I enjoy my gardens, flower & vegetable....just gotta get into the dirt, come Spring. I dearly love to travel, with Dennis, in the West, especially Colorado...it refreshes my soul... I can't gaze long enough at the beauty of the desert southwest, and I'm one of those rare people who loves the plains.....all that space and open sky. I love to hear from other family researchers and to keep adding leaves to the family tree! In 2005,after retirement, we acquired a 2nd home in central Kansas in the little city of Lorraine, and I became a member of Daughters of the American Revolution,, Marion Chapter, Fayetteville, Arkansas, as of December 10, 2011, as a descendant of Patriot Ancestor Richard Shipp.

MEET DENNIS, Per Jean: "Hobbies (or OBSESSIONS, as I "jokingly" insist) have included: Training & showing gaited saddle horses, travel, tennis, photography and travel, short story writing, genealogy and travel, Western mountains and travel, Canada and travel, and most of all travel, travel, travel. Dennis is a two-time graduate of the University of Arkansas, with a Master's degree in General Psychology; he was employed as a psychological examiner with the Arkansas Rehabilitation Service from 1971 until his retirement in October of 2004. Extra-curricular professional involvement has included membership in Arkansas Psychological Association; charter membership and presidency of Arkansas Association of Masters in Psychology; gubernatorial appointment to the Arkansas Psychology Board (the state's regulatory body for the practice of psychology) for the 1993-1997 term; served as chairman from 1 Jan. '96 through 16 Aug. '96, then retired from the Board in Sept. '96. Pres. (1998 & 2001-2002) General Lafayette Chapter (Fayetteville, Ark.) National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (Nat. reg. #147252); March 19, 2005 through March 18, 2007: President, Arkansas Society, Sons of the American Revolution. July, 2008: NSSAR National Trustee representing Arkansas Society. July, 2011: NSSAR Vice President General, South Central District (Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma & Texas), 2011/2012. Since 2012, Secretary of Arkansas Society. and now dual memberships in Kansas and Kentucky Societies, and manager or the SAR Patriot Index (patriot.sar.org), with records for more than 169,000 Revolutionary Patriots.
