Flora Stallard's Letter

The letter below was written by Flora Taylor Stallard to her cousin Ewing Taylor, and
was given to me by a wonderful lady named Berniece.
She has shared much information with me and has graciously
allowed me to share it with you.........

Thanks Berniece (and her daughter)!

Note: The spelling is as in the original letter, I added some punctuation for clarity.

Dear Cosin Ewing

I will try to answer your letter received some time ago the reason I haven't wrote sooner I was trying get Uncle Marshall's picture so I could send it to you.

William P. Taylor married Polly Stallard his first wife then he for his second wife Eda Ashworth.

William P. and Polly was your great grand parents and they had 5 children. Marshall B the oldest, Sylvan 2 oldest, Nancy married a Tyler 3 oldest. Saria Boatwright 4 oldest Rebecca Davis 5, this is his children by his first wife and after Polly died he married Eda Ashworth they had 7 children, their names are Emory, Elizabeth, Jackson, Allen, Siss, Charlie, Jim. Jackson was my father. Gramma Eda raised W.P. first children and her seven.

Gramma Eda wearied her self till she died when Marshall got in that trouble.

My mother was Susan Wolf and her mother was a Carter. She was Billie Carters daughter.

Billie had two boys Dr. John Carter and Pete Carter, this is all I know about the Carters.

My father and mother had 11 children and there are three of us living, I lost my oldest brother the 11 of last month, he was 91 years old the 21 day of last June. I am 74 yrs old and I am the oldest one living now.

I am sending you one of Uncle Marshall pictures I found a picture and had some copies of it made and I am sending you one Uncle Marshall was hung at. He went through the scaffold, I don't know how they managed to catch him when he fell through but Dr. Cherry told me and my sister that he was not hung for he was one of the Dr. in the Boothe and Dr. Marshall put on a false face and walked out with the rest of them and they took the casket to the cemetery and buried the casket and Uncle Marshall went to Masauria and his grand daughter was up here three years ago and told my brother Billie that Dr. Taylor was not hanged. But she said he was dead now. Marshall was a freemason and Dr. Cherry said that the 16 men that was in the Booth where he fell through was all Freemasons.

Marshall B. Taylor married Nancy Booth and they had 4 children, their names are Mary. She married Jim Bently in Ky. Martha married Henry Baker. Sylvan married a Saylers. Rebecca married Ebb Johnson, I don't know if any of them is living. The girls all went to Masauria and Sylvan lived haere at Norton, Sylvan has been dead several years.

I don't know anything about Silas Ison.
