Alexander McLeod husband of Sarah McIntosh - My direct line

Arrived in Kershaw, South Carolina between 1810 and 1812 purchasing property on the Horsepen Branch of the Scape Or waters. Their property lay on the border of Old Sumter and Old Kershaw Districts, present day Lee County. A Written Family History by Nicey Jane McLeod Holland Hughes (1838-1920) states that his parents were Angus and Nancy McCutchen McLeod. The Will of Alexander names two brothers, Daniel and Norman(d). Alexander lived in Kershaw until his death in 1824. His descendants remain in Kershaw and Sumter District today.

Alexander McLeod, husband of Sarah {--?--}

Sarah's name has been shown as both Gellis and as McCaskill - no evidence has arisen to date to prove either of these maiden names. This family owned property in both Sumter and Kershaw Counties, records may be found in both. Their son, Norman McLeod, married my Alexander's sister Betsy, leaving the Sumter Kershaw area in 1839 for Pike County Alabama. Norman and Betsy's descendants state that the two were cousins opening the possibility that this Alexander and Angus (see my direct line above) were related.

Alexander McLeod, husband of Mary Catherine McCaskill

This family arrived in Kershaw District, South Carolina sometime between 1810 and 1820 according to the 1810/1820 Kershaw Census and land documentation. Alexander died in 1821 and his family left the area by 1828/29. Kershaw County Probate Court Index file 50 estate 1773/Kershaw County Cemeteries Vol I, II, III. Alexander is buried in the Scotch Cemetery.
