NEWS and VIEWS

November 24, 2020

I have my DNA done at FamilyTreeDNA.com and Heritage Quest. I'm still looking for roots of Simon I Murphy and other late 17th century Murphys.

Earlier:

Still looking for any valid connection of Simon (I) Murphy to an alleged Richard Murphy father.
If you have any information, please let me know. Let's all share.

Currently just catching up on posting all the stuff I've been collecting (since Fall 2005)

 CHALLENGES:

I hereby challenge anyone with credible evidence linking Richard Murphy, supposed father of Simon of Surry Co., VA to William Byrd of Westover to come forward!  It has been claimed for years, but I have yet to see one shred of information supporting this claim.

Want to know more about William Bird of Martins Brandon, Virginia, apparent uncle of William Byrd I of Westover and father of Elizabeth Bird, who supposedly married Richard Murphy.

Did the Union Co. SC Simon Murphy line come
from Simon of Surry VA or elsewhere?

Who is that Simon Murphey in Lancaster Co. VA in 1670s?

Who is the Simon Murfe, sailor in CT in 1710?

Who is that Richard Murfey on the muster roll in VA for 1703?

Who is that Richard Murphy, Mariner, leaving will
in 1677 and son Richard?

Was Mary Murfey, 1714 grant inheritor,
related to the Richard that I seek?

Did the Surry Co. Simon relate to her?  Assamosock swamp is about 5 miles or so from Blackwater swamp.  Mary's 1714 grant on S. side BW swamp, Simon's 1732 & others on N. side of Assam. swamp, just south of BW swamp.  Did they relate to Wm. Murfey in Nansemond?
