Engels] [provided Dec 2002, by Patti Heath, americanterrortwin@yahoo.com] John William De La Fletcher Mack, nicknamed "Alphabet" Mack, was born 15 January 1821 in Maury County, Tennessee, the son of a John A. and Sarah V.(MACK) MACK. J.W.L.D.F. MACK married 2 May 1843 in Maury County, Sarah N. MURPHY, the daughter of Nathaniel Green and Charlotte PERRY MURPHY, She died in Maury County in 1849, leaving three small children. J.W.D.L.F. MACK married (2) May (Mary) Josephine MURPHY, suster of his first wife, on 12 September 1850 in Maury County, Tennessee. They had nine children, seven of whom were living in 1890 and named in their father's will. I have the will in the book as well. Let me know if you would like me to type it out. Miles Pinckney MURPHY, Sr., born 20 November 1808, married his first cousin, Eleanor J. C. MACK, daughter of Willaim and Mary BLAIR MACK, on 3 February 1835. Miles P. MUROHY, Sr. died 5 January 1874, and his wife died 26 November 1870. Both are buried in the MURPHY Cemetery in Maury County, where they had spent their lives. The Family charts for Polly MACK MURPHY will name the children of Miles P. MURPHY, Sr. and Eleanor J.C. MACK MURPHY. The grandchildren of this couple lived and died in Maury County. Many are buried in the Ross Hill Cemetery. Two sons of Miles P. MURPHY, Jr. died early: John M. MURPHY, 25, "A servant of God - Highest calling of Man", was preparing for the Ministry when he died of Typhoid Fever 27 February 1898; Nathaniel Franklin MURPHY, 23, died 10 September 1898 of consumption. Two other sons of Miles P. MURPHY, Jr. lived to old age: Ernest (past 91) and Isiah Constantine (85). Isiah C. MURPHY was a well known orchardist and shipped apples to many places in the United States. Sarah Constantine Elizabeth MURPHY, daughter of Miles P. MUROHY, Sr., married A.A. MORROW. Their son Joseph Franklin (1878-1947) was postmaster at Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, 1923-1927. Dr. William Mack MORROW, son of Joseph F. MORROW, is presently a profesor at Valdosta State College, Valdosta, Georgia. His half-brother, H. Pacton MORROW, and wife Sara SPROTT MORROW live in Nashville, Tennessee. We are indebted to Mrs. Sara S. MORROW for information on some present day descendants of MURPHY and MORROW families.
