Appleton

This is a place of Anglo-Saxon origin indicating a residence near an orchard
or a homestead where apples were grown.  Earliest English record is of Tomas
de Appleton, 1196, Yorkshire.

According to the Appleton Genealogy with data drawn from "Weever's Antient
Funeral Monuments" and a pedigree in the British Museum, the family appears

to have settled in Waldingfield, county Suffolk, England prior to 1400....

Thomas Appulton, married Margaret CRANE who died November 4, 1504.  He died
in 1507.
