Earliest English record is of Tomas de Appleton, 1196, Yorkshire. According to the Appleton Genealogy with data drawn from "Weever's Antient Funeral Monuments" and a pedigree in the British Museum, the family appears p. 14 to have settled in Waldingfield, county Suffolk, England prior to 1400....
