Murphy] Christ Church Parish established 1666, but first entry dated 19 Nov 1663, which are vestry minute meetings of Lancaster Parish. Lancaster Co. originally embraced land on both sides of the Rappahannock. 1664 the part of county lying south of the Rappahannock contained two parishes, Lancaster and Peanckatanck, both served by one minister, Mr. Morris. On 29 Jan 1666, both these united into Christ Church Parish.
