Know ye that for divers good causes and consideration but more especially for and in consideration of the sum of Thirty five shillings of good and lawful money for our use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia We have given granted and confirmed and by these presents for us our heirs and succeSsors Do give grant and confirm unto John Murphey on certain Tract or parcel of Land containing three hundred and twenty Acres lying and being in the County of Bedford on the head or branches of Back Creek and Pretty Creek and bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at an ash in Hall's line on Merchant's branch, thence on the said line West twelve poles to pointers in the said line off South fifteen degrees East one hundred and twenty poles to a post oak South thirty three degrees East- thirty one poles to a white oak in Snow's line thence on Snow's line South forty five degrees East one hundred and thirty nine poles to a pine off North thirty degrees East sixty one poles~ 669[sic-no 668] poles to pointers in Verdeman's line on Verdeman's line North fifty eight degrees West twelve poles to a white oak North twenty poles to a white oak North eighty five degrees East thirty poles to a white oak in the said line off North thirty degrees East ninety poles to a pine North twenty five degrees West fifty six poles to a red oak North seventy one degrees West one hundred and forty poles to a red oak on the said branch and thence up the same as it meanders to the first station With all &c.
