Murphy, 9/22/2000] [All bonds contain the following typed verbage] Know all men that we [Groom and Bonded person] of the county of Maury and State of Tennessee are held and firmly bound unto the Governor of said state, for the time being in the sum of 1250 dollars to be paid to his Excellency, his successors in office or assigns to which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs executors and administrators, and each & every one of us and them, jointly and severally by these presents- Witness our hands and seals this [day] day of [Month] 18[year]. The conditions of the above obligation is such that whereas [Groom] hath prayed and obtained a licence to marry [Bride] Now if the said [Bride] be an actual resident in the aforesaid county, and there shall not appear any lawful cause why the said [Groom & Bride] should not be joined together in holy matrimony as husband and wife, then this obligation to be void and no effect, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
