[Excerpts from "Surry County, Virginia Deeds 1684-1733 and Other Court Papers" by William Lindsay Hopkins] (p. 113) 20 Apr 1687...Nathaniel Bacon, Esq., states that Thomas Bird, decd., appointed his relict (not named) as his executrix. She is now married to George Nicholson and is Mary Nicholson and on 5 Jan 1688 he asked to be named the administrator of the Bird estate. Rec: __Jun 1689 Nathaniel Bacon p. 147 Surry County Deeds, Wills, Etc. #7, 1715-1730 (p. 924) 4 Mar 1728...Elizabeth Lanier of Southwarke Parish one of the daughters of Thomas Bird, late of this parish, decd., and Richard Jones and wife, Tabitha Jones another daughter of the said Thomas Bird, decd., of the same parish agree to the equal division of 600 acres. Whereas Thomas Bird, decd., in his will of 21 Jan 1687/5 Jan 1688 devised 300 acres on Chipoakes Creek to his three daughters, Mary Bird (since deceased), Elizabeth Bird and Tabitha Bird. Thomas Bird, dec'd., also left 300 acres to his son, Thomas Bird, Jr. who died in his minority, and this deed is the agreement on the division of the total 600 acres. The land is bounded by the Southern Run where Elizabeth Lanier now liveth. Wit: Howell Briggs and Thomas Eldridge.
