Murphey's Deed 55 3/5 acres Executed by Jas. C. Murphey, Jan'y 1st 1872. Registered Jan'y 5th, 1872. Know all men by these presents, that I, James C. Murphey, for and in consideration of the sume of thirteen hundred & ninety dollars ($1390) to me in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknow-ledged, have this day bargained and sold, and do hereby transfer and convey unto Joseph H. Murphey, a certain tract or parcel of land lying in the State of Tennessee, Maury County, Civil District No. 4, and bounded as follows: Beginning at a Poplar, & running thence S. 21 [deg] E. 20 poles & 5 links to a small Poplar, thence S. 62 [deg] E. 47 poles & 8 links to a rock 4 links North of a White Oak, thence South 14 poles to a rock with Oak & Hickory pointers, thence S. 89 1/2 [deg] E. 64 poles to a set rock, thence North 53 poles & 16 links to a rock with three White Oak pointers, thence N. 89 1/2 [deg] W. 10 poles to a rock with two White Oak stump pointers, thence North 82 poles & 9 links to a stake in Columbia road, thence N. 75 [deg] W. 19 poles & 8 links to a stake at a Spring with dead Sycamore pointer, thence N. 27 1/2 [deg] W. 7 poles & 18 links to a rock, thence N. 89 [deg] W. 42 poles to a stake with a Honey Locust pointer, thence S. 5 [deg] E. 17 poles & 10 links to the beginning, containing 55 3/5 acres more or less. To have and to hold the above described tract or parcel of land to the said Joseph H. Murphey, his heirs and assigns forever I convenant with the said Joseph H. Murphey, that I am lawfully seized of said land, have a good right to convey it, and that the same is unincumbered. I further covenant and bind myself, my heirs and legal representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to said tract of land to the said Joseph H. Murphey, his heirs and assigns, against the lawful claims of all persons whatever. Witness my hand & seal this 1st day of January 1872. James C.
