Murphy, for and in consideration of the sum of thirteen hundred & seventy five dollars ($1375) to me in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowl-edged have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey unto George F. Wright a certain tract or parcel of land lying in the State of TenneSsee Maury County Civil District No. 4 Bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a Poplar running thence S. 21 [deg] E. 20 poles & 5 links to a small poplar- thence S. 62 [deg] E. 47 poles & 8 links to a rock 4 links North of a White Oak- thence South 14 poles to a rock with Oak & Hickory pointers- thence S. 89 1/2 [deg] E. 64 poles to a set rock- thence North 53 poles 16 links to a rock with two Whites Oak stump pointers- thence North 82 poles & 9 links to a stake in Columbia road- thence North 75 [deg] West 19 poles minus 3 links to a rock- thence 77 [deg] West 16 poles minus 6 links to a rock at James C. Murphy's corner thence S 39 poles & 4 links to rock with Elm Hickory & two oak pointers- thence S 37 [deg] W 40 poles & 8 links to a stake at a Spring with dead Sycamore pointer- thence North 27 1/2 [deg] W 7 poles & 18 links to a rock- thenc N 89 [deg] W, 42 poles to a stake with a Honey locust pointer- thence S 5 [deg] E 17 poles & 10 links to the Begining. Containing 55 3/5 acres more or less. over p. 626 To have and to hold the above described tract or parcel of land to the said G.F. Wright his heirs and aSsigns forever I convenant with the said G.F. Wright that I am lawfully seized of said land have a good right to convey it & that the same is unencumbered. I further covenant and bind myself, my heirs and legal representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to said tract of land to the said G.F Wright, his heirs and aSsigns, against the lawful claims of all persons whatever.
