Murphey Deed for 103 Acres Executed by William S. Leonard September 23d 1854 Registered December 11th 1854 I William S. Leonard have this day bargained and sold and do hereby sell and convey to William B. Murphey and his heirs forever for the consideration of Eight hundred dollars to me in hand paid by said William B. Murphey the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged a tract of land in the state of Tennessee County of Maury and District No. 5 bounded as follows: Beginning at two persimmon and a small hickory sapling, Willoughby Mannings north west corner in the north boundary of the tract running thence west with said Mannings line 126 poles to a stake the north west corner of James Bowman tract- thence South with his west boundary 144 poles to a stake & pointers- thence east 29 4/10 poles to a hickory- thence 9 poles to a stone- thence east 29 poles to an Elm- thence north 45 poles to a pile of stone- thence East 24 poles to a red oak- thence north 20 poles to an Elm on the side of a bunch- thence East 78 poles to a cedar & small innwood on Mannings west boundary line- thence with the same north 23 [degrees] west 95 poles to the beginning- containing by estimation 103 acres and 133 poles- Also one other parcel of 7 acres lying East and South of due foregoing tract- adjoining the lands of John Whitaker deed on the north & west. To have and to hold the same to the said Murphey his heirs and assigns forever- I covenant with said Murphey that I am lawfully seized of said land have a good right to convey it and that the same is unincumbered- I further covenant and bind myself my heirs & executors to warrant and defend the title of the same to his heirs and aSsigns forever.
