This Indenture made this seventeenth Day of Augt. in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and Seventy Between Richard Murphy of the County of Rowan in North Carolina of the one part and William Ragsdale of the County of Pittsylvania in the Colony of Virginia of the other part WitneSseth that the said Richard Murphey for and in consideration of the sum of forty pounds current Money of Virginia aforesaid to him in hand paid by the said William Ragsdale at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. he the said Richard Murphey Hath granted Bargained and Sold aliened Released and Confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain and Sell alien Release and Confirm unto the said William Ragsdale all that Tract piece or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania on Elkhorn Creek Containing by Estimation two hundred acres being the same land which the said Richard Murphy purchased of Nathaniel Terry Gent. and was by the said Nathaniel Terry by deed Recorded in the Court of the County of Halifax aforesaid Conveyed to the said Richard Murphy as by the said Indenture reference being thereunto had may more fully appear and the same is Bounded as in and by the said Indenture is disiretia[?] and all woods underwoods Ways waters watercourses profits Commodities Advantages Hereditaments and appurtenances Whatsoever to the said premises above mentioned belonging or in anywise appertaining and also the Reversion and Reversions Remainder and Remainders Rents and Services of the said premises and of every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances and also all the estate right Title Interest Claim and Demand Whatsoever either in Equity or in Same of him the said Richard Murphey and his heirs of in or to the said premiSses above mentioned or any part or parcel thereof with the appurtenances To have and to Hold the said Tract piece or parcel of Land and premises above mentioned and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the said William Ragsdale his heirs and aSsigns to the 48 only proper use and behalf of him the said William Ragsdale his heirs and aSsigns forever and the said Richard Murphy for himself and his heirs doth Covenant Grant and agree to and with the said William Ragsdale his heirs and aSsigns by these presents that he the said Richard Murphy the said Tract piece or parcel of Land and Premises above mentioned and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the said Wm.
