This Indenture made this Twenty second day of March In the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred and sixty nine and in the ninth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King George the third Between Nathaniel Terry Gent. of Halifax County of the one part and James Murphey of Pittsylvania County of the other part WitneSseth that the said Nathaniel Terry for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty pounds Current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said James Murphey the Receipt whereof he doth hereby Acknowledge. Hath Given granted Bargained and Sold aliened inSsoffed[?] and confirmed and by these Presents doth give grant bargain and sell alien inSsoff[?] and Confirm 129 unto the said James Murphey his heirs and aSsigns forever one certain Tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the parish of Cambden and County of Pittsylvania containing by Estimation one hundred and seventy three acres it being part of a larger quantity Granted to the said Nathaniel Terry by patent Limited bounded as Described as followeth viz. Beginning at a red oak in Leahs line thence by non dividing line to with eighty five degrees west one hundred and forty poles to a hickory north ten degrees west one hundred and eight poles CroSsing the Sack[?] branch of Elkhorn Creek to pointers North Seventy five degrees east one hundred and sixty six poles to pointers in GlaSscocks line thence along his line south Ten degrees west eighty three poles to a pine thence along Leahs line south Ten degrees east one hundred and Twenty poles CroSsing the aforesaid fork Branch of Elkhorn Creek to the Beginning it being the Land and Plantation whereas the said James Murphey now lives be the same more or leSs and also all Woods underwoods Ways Waters and Watercourses Together with all the Houses orchards Gardens and fences thereunto belonging or in anywise appurtaining with all the advantages Hereditaments and Commodities also the reversion and reversions Remainder and Remainders Rents and Services of the said premiSses and of every 130 part and parcel thereof with all the etat[?] estate Right Tille Interest Claim and Demand whatsoever in of him the said Nathaniel Terry of in or to the said Tract or parcel of Land and premiSses above mentioned and every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of Land and all and singular the premiSes above mentioned with the appurtanences unto the said James Murphey his heirs and aSsigns forever to the only use and behaaff[sic] of him the said James Murphey his heirs and aSsigns and he the said Nathaniel Terry doth covenant and agree with the said James Murphey his heirs and aSsigns that the above mentioned Tract or parcel of Land is clear of all Incumberances Whatsoever and he the said Nathaniel Terry hath Good Right to Convey the said Land and PremiSses above mentioned and he the said Nathaniel Terry doth for himself his heirs Execr. and Admr..........[sic] covenant and agree to and with the said James Murphey his heirs Executors administrators and aSsigns that be the said Tract or parcel of Land above mentioned Together with the appurtanences unto the said James Murphey his heirs and aSsigns shall and will Warrant and forever Defend against him the said Nathaniel Terry his heirs and aSsigns and against all and every other ...[sic] Person or persons Whatsoever Lawfully Claiming or to claim under him their or any of them In WitneSs whereof he the said Nathaniel Terry hath hereunto set his hand and Seal the day and year first above Written.
