Murphy, 2 Apr 2001] Murphy from Ellis Deed This Indenture made this Twentyninth Day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and seventy two between Joseph Ellis of Pittsylvania County and Colony of Virginia of the one part and William Murphy of county and colony aforesaid of the other part + WitneSseth that the said Joseph Ellis for and in consideration of sixty pounds Current Money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said William Murphy the Receipt whereof the said Joseph Ellis doth hereby Acknowledge he the said Joseph Ellis hath Granted Bargained and Sold Aliened and Confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell Alien and Confirm unto the said William Murphy his heirs & aSsigns forever all that MeSsuage and Tenement and all that piece or parcel obtained lying in Pittsylvania County on both sides the north fork of Pigg River situate and Bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at a Gum post and pointers thence North fifty degrees East Twenty poles to a Dogwood North fifty degrees West Eightyeight poles to Gum North ninetyeight poles 195 Poles to a white oak and Chesnut West one hundred poles to a red oak North sixty degree West Seventy six Poles to a Chestnut South ten degrees west to red oak Sapplins on the side of a Stoney Hill then a Straight line to the Beginning Containing One hundred and Sixty four acres being part of a Survey fo three hundred and Twenty acres the Patent whereof is dated September Twenty Sixth One thousand seven hundred and sixty. Together with all Woods underwoods Tithes Commons Common & Pasture Profits Commodities Advantages Hereditaments Ways Waters and appurtenances Whatsoever to the said meSsuage and Lands above mentioned belonging or anywise appurtaining and also the Reversion and Reversions Remainder and Remainders Rents and Services of the said Premises and of every part thereof and all Will[?] Estates Rights Titles Interest Claim and Demand whatsoever of him the said J. Ellis of in and to the said MeSsuage and premises and every part thereof To have and to hold the said MeSsuage or Tenement and all and Singular the Premises above mentioned and every part and parcell thereof with their appurtenances unto the said William Murphy his Heirs and aSsigns to the only proper uses and behalf of him the said William Murphy his Heirs and aSsigns forever and the said Joseph Ellis for him and his Heirs the said MeSsuage or Tenement and premises and part thereof against him and his Heirs and against all and every other person or Persons Whatsoever to the said William Murphy his Heirs and aSsigns shall and will Warrant and forever defend by these presents In WitneSs whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this Day and year above Written Js. his X mark Ellis L.S.
