Murphy, 14 Jan 2002] [Library of Virginia, Land Office Patents No. 15, 1732-1735 (v.1 & 2 p.1-522), p. 17, 18 (Reel 13)] [These pages also include land patents for John Wright, John ParSous[?] and partials for Andrew Crow and another] Simon Murphy 400 acres Now[?] Land form p. 3d George the Second er&c To all er&c Know ye that for divers good causes[?] and Considerations but- more Especially for and in Consideration of the Sum of forty Shillings of Good'and Lawful mony for our liss paid for our Ressiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia We have given granted and confirmed and by these Presents for us our Heirs and SucceSsors do give grant and confirm to Simon Murphy of Surry County one Certain Tract or Parsol of Land containing four Hundred acres Lying and being on the North side of the Afsamoosoth Swamp in the County aforesaid and bounded as followeth (to wit) Beginning at a Gum on the North East side of Bly's branch & about North forty Degrees last fifty Eight Poles to a Pine then North Twenty five Degrees east[?] thirteen Poles- to three Eros chops[?] & inwards then South Sixty Degrees East five Hundred and Seventy two Poles to a red oak then North Twenty five Degrees East Seventy Four Poles to a black oak then North by East forty one Poles to a Pine by the side of Jordiny's[?] Branch then down the various courSes of the river[?] of the said branch to the mouth of a small branch which divides this Land from Marmaduke GuSsitt's then up the various courSes of the run of the said Small branch to a mark'd Maple on the West side thereof a Corner of the said Marmaduke GuSsitts Land then by GuSsitts line &[?] South Seventy Degrees West fifty three Poles to [end of page] to a Pine Roost[?] North West on Hundred and Seventy Seven Poles to a red Oak North West by North one- Hundred and Thirty five pols' to a Spanish Oak and North ninety two Pols to a Hickory a line Eros[?] of the Land of Henry HarriSon Esq & then by HarriSon's lines North fifty two Degrees W of Eighty Six poles to a red oak and South Seventy Degrees Es of Sixty Pols to a red oak a Corner of William Hamlin junr. his Land & then by Hamlins Lines South forth one Degrees West forty six Poles to a red Oak South forty Six pols to a Pine South forty Degrees East two Hundred and Sixty four Poles to a red Oak and ~ South Twenty Nine Degrees West twenty pols to a Gum in a Small meadowey branch then down the~ various CourSes of the run of the said branch to Bly's branch aforesaid and up the various CourSes of the run of Bly's branch to the beginning With all, er To have hold er.
