Murphy & wife Deed in Land to John James Watson This Indenture made and entered into on the Twelfth 12th day of Novem- ber AD 1866 by and between Merideth Q Murphy of Washington County Mississippi of the first part and John James Watson of Issaquena County said state of the second part. Witnesseth, that the said party of the first for and in consideration of the sum of seven thousand five hundred ($7500) Dollars, cash in hand paid, and the further sum of two thousand Five hundred ($2500) Dollars secured to be paid as evidenced by the promissory note- of said party of the second part of this date, for the said sum of Two Thousand, five hundred ($2500) Dollars, the receipt of which cash & promissory not is herby acknowledged, hath been gained, sold, conveyed, confirmed and released unto the said party of the second, his heir and asssigns forever, the one undivided third part of a certain tract of land in said county of Issaquena, Known as the Moore place, bounded on the west by the Mississippi River on the south by the lands of Judge T.W. Hays; on the north by the Lands of Burnley, & on the East by lands owned by persons unknown which tract of land lately belonged to Rachel Moore deceased containing six hundred acres, more or less; together with all rights, ways, privileges & improvements to the same belonging & all my claim, right, title & interests in the same, and any part thereof, and the reversion, remainder, rents, issues and profits thereof; together with one remainder half interest in the crop made on said place during the year 1866, and one undivided half interest on the [p. 307] [stock of mules? on said?] place numbering eighteen (18) head, and one [undivided half?] interest in the stock of cattle Known as the Jones' stock and one undivided half interest in all the farming interests, wagons & [?] on said place. To have and to hold unto the said party of the second part his heirs & assigns, to his & their only use & benefit forever, And the said party of the first part for himself, his heirs, executors and administrators hereby covenants to & with the party of the second part his heirs and assigns, that they shall & will warrant and defend the above interest & title in and to said tract of land & premises, mules, stock & c to the said party of the second part his heirs & assigns against all persons whomsoever- In testimony whereof the said party hereto set their hands & seals the day & year first above written.
