The examination of William Murphy, age 24 of Waterford, Ireland, Cook in the Diamond Pink: Master Patrick Lynch. Murphy states that about May 1709, the Diamond Pink took a cargo of servants and provisions to Virginia and there took on a cargo of tobacco for London. The ship was taken by a French Privateer. Subsequently the crew of the Diamond Pink was transferred to a smaller French ship which undertook to land them in Ireland. This ship was captured by a British Man of War off Kinsale- the crew of the Diamond Pink were arrested and brought to London. Denial by Murphy of ever having borne arms against her Majesty. Richard Grey, age 23, of Southwark, Surrey on examination said he joined the Diamond Pink in Virginia, otherwise his evidence is similar to Murphy and Dobbyn. (3 pp.) 210. 19 June 1710. Patrick Crowley, age 24, of Cork, Ireland examined gave evidence identical with Grey. (2 pp.)
