The Chicago Road went from

Lake Michigan. Along the way,
the road passed through
Dearborn, Cambridge Junction,
White Pigeon, Niles, New
Buffalo, and the future site of
Gary, Indiana.
-----------------
The State Road went west from
Chicago, then through Elgin,
Rockford, and Freeport to
