Fuller, Edward ( -1621)

Edward Fuller came to Plymouth in the Mayflower, 1620, with his wife (Ann?) and small son Samuel and brother Samuel. Another son, Matthew, was left behind in Holland, but he followed to the new home in America in a later expedition. The family had lived in Leyden, Holland, for a short period of time, but they came originally from Redenhall, Norfolk, England. Edward was the 21st signer of the "Compact," the agreement drawn up in the cabin of the Mayflower shortly before the landing at Plymouth Rock. Both Edward and his wife died during the first winter on these shores. JONES-THOMPSON Family Tree

Fuller, Matthew (abt 1603-1678)

Matthew Fuller was born in England, son of Edward Fuller. He did not embark in the Mayflower with his parents, but came with a later group of emigrants as head of a family. It is thought that while in England, he had married Francis ___, credited with being the mother of some, if not all, of his children, two sons and three daughters, some of whom were born before leaving England. Matthew brought his family to Plymouth by 1640. Plymouth colony records in September of that year describe his garden place in Plymouth and the six acres of land which he had recently purchased from John Gregory. In 1642, he had land assigned to him, was a juryman, and was propounded as freeman. The next year he was appointed sergeant of the military company raised in Plymouth, Duxbury, and Marshfield, of which Myles Standish was captain. In about 1650, he removed to Barnstable where he followed the profession of physician. He took a public stand on the side of the unpopular Quakers there and received a fine for it. In 1654, he appears as lieutenant under Captain Standish of the fifty men raised as Plymouth's quota to expel the Dutch from Manhatten; however he saw no service because peace between England and Holland was declared before his force departed. In 1673, he became Surgeon General of the Plymouth colony forces, and he was a captain in 1676 in King Philip's War. Matthew Fuller of Barnstable prepared a will dated 25 July 1678 which was sworn 30 October 1678. His wife Frances was executrix. JONES-THOMPSON Family Tree

Fuller, Lt. Samuel (abt 1630-1676)

Samuel Fuller was born about 1630, probably in England, and is thought to be the oldest of Matthew Fuller's children. He married Mary ___, probably at Plymouth Colony. Samuel was killed at Rehoboth [Maine] in King Philip's War, in the summer of 1676. Mary was still living and expecting her seventh child whom she named Samuel. JONES-THOMPSON Family Tree

She was the daughter of Rodolphus and Ruth Partridge Thatcher of Duxbury, Chilmark and Lebanon, Connecticut. Samuel was a sergeant; he resided with his family at both Preston and Mansfield, in Connecticut. His will in Mansfield was dated 23 September 1716; an inventory was taken in 24 October 1716, leaving all his estate to his wife Elizabeth who was the executrix. They were the parents of 3 sons and 4 daughters. JONES-THOMPSON Family Tree

Jeremiah was the youngest child of John Gustin and his wife Mary. He was born on July 26, 1740, and died at Red Lion, Warren County, Ohio, August 31, 1823. His wife was Bethany Fuller, whom he married in Sussex County, New Jersey. She was a descendant of the Pilgrim Edward Fuller. Jeremiah and Bethany settled four miles west of Lebanon in 1798. A great grandson [James M. Gustin, of Blanchester, Ohio] stated, " My great grandfather came here from Pa; came down on a flatboat; landed at Jarett's Station, at the mouth of the Little Miami, six miles above the now city of Cincinnati." Jeremiah acquired an entire section of land, which was later divided among his five sons and two daughters. Jeremiah is buried in the old Kirby graveyard, 2 1/2 miles north of Lebanon, Ohio. Bethany is buried in the same cemetery; she died February 22, 1829. JONES-THOMPSON Family Tree

Gustin, John [Augustine Le Rossignol Jean] (1647-1719)

The official records of Massachusetts show the name of this ancestor sometimes as Augustine John, sometimes John Gustin. His full baptismal name was Augustine Le Rossignol Jean. He signed his will on his deathbed as John AUGustine. A French Norman, Augustine Jean, was born on Isle of Jersey, 9 January 1647, and died 3 July 1719, in Falmouth [now Portland, Maine]. He was the son of Edmond Jean and Esther le Rossignol. He came to America in the spring of 1675 and served in King Philip's War in both Captain Beers' Company and in Captain Turner's Company. Hatcher, Benjamin (1644-1728)

Benjamin Hatcher, son of William Hatcher the Immigrant, married on or before June of 1680 Elizabeth, the daughter of John Greenhaugh. There are records mentioning both families in Henrico County, Virginia. Benjamin's colonial service is proven by Henrico Records, 2 June 1679, "Acct of ye several forty Tythables ordered Wirtt Court to fit out men, horse, armes &c. . . Curls . . . Ben Hatcher." His will is dated 12 Apr 1727 and probated October 1728. [WILLS & DEEDS (1725-1737), p 215.] In it he names sons Benjamin, Henry, and Jeremiah, and daughters Sarah, Elizabeth Childrey, Mary Tindall, and Martha Hobson and his wife Elizabeth. There were two other sons also--William who died in 1716, and John. HATCHER-HARRIS Family Tree

Howland, Arthur (1590 - 1675)

Various dates are given for Arthur's birth--1590, 1596, and 1610. Some suggest he was Henry Howland's eldest son, and that he was Margaret's son rather than Alice's. Arthur and Henry came in either the FORTUNE in 1621 or the ANN 1723 according to a source cited in an LDS Film: Certain Comeovers by Henry Howland Crapo, Vol. 1. [Note: I do not find them on the lists of passengers for either ship, but it is commonly agreed that Arthur arrived in America by 1640.] Their brother John came on the MAYFLOWER. Arthur and Henry became Quakers after arriving. Arthur was a planter, yeoman, Duxbury proprietor according to Charles Henry Pope in Pioneers Of Massachusetts. Arthur died October 30, 1675, and his will was probated 7 March following. In it, he bequeathed to his wife Margaret, son Arthur; grandchildren Assadiah Smith and his 3 brothers; daughters Mary Williamson, Martha Daman and Elizabeth Low; grandchildren Mary Walker and Timothy Williamson. His widow died 12 Oct 1683. JONES-THOMPSON Family Tree
