I need help in learning more about my 4th great-grandfather, Joseph
HARRISON. Census records indicate he was born in 1823 in Alabama. On 3
June 1841 he married "Leathy"/Meletha/Aletha SMITH in Upson County,
Georgia. Joseph died in Upson Co. in 1860 in a freak accident where he
accidentally blew himself up while blasting out a well with dynamite.
He left behind his widow and and five young children: Mary, born 1840
in Upson Co.; Benjamin J. Franklin, born 1842 in Upson Co.; Laura Jane,
born 1847 in Upson Co.; Abagail Virginia "Abbie", born 1849 in Upson
Co.; and Elizabeth Alice "Betty", born 1851 in Upson Co. I descend
through the daughter, Abagail Virginia.
I am totally clueless on the parentage of this Joseph Harrison. If
anyone has a lead or a tip, or even better, his actual lineage, it would
just be great. Thanks!
Kim Austin
