Mc CREADY | Dave Holt | My Father, David John McCready was born in Belfast, N/Ireland on July 23, 1915. His father soon thereafter moved the family to Dublin, where he took a job as a Prison Warder. My father had at least 1 Brother, Samuel who later emmigrated to Australia.( Where, I have no idea. ) My Father also had at least 1 Sister, who emmigrated to British Columbia,Canada and married a Man named McDonald in Kitchener, B.C. I have no idea what my grand fathers name was. I seem to recall that My Grandmothers name was either Mary or Margaret and she was from County Donegal. Unfortunately at the time my father was alive I was not into genealogy and therefore did not ask the questions that would have made my search much more fruitful. I didn't have a computer or know about the Internet until about 3 years ago and I have been out there since trying to trace my roots. My Father once told me that The McCready Clan was originally from Scotland and went into Ireland in the Army of Oliver Cromwell, where they married Irish Lasses and stayed I suspect that the Clan was based somewhere around the Londonderry or Belfast Area.as my father talked about Derry. I don't think my father and his father got along well as his present to my father on his 15th birthday was a one way ticket to Canada. I seem to hit a brick wall everywhere I go. I would be greatly appreciative if some kind soul could maybe e-mail me back with information that would help me to push down the wall and get on with my search.or at least e-mail back when I send them an e-mail. ( Jim Herlihy of La Garda etc) |
