Who really was the first person Buried at the Goldthwaite Cemetery? Was itAlgernon B. Dozier (July 1886) or Emire? Inez Yarborough (Aug 1886) before the cemetery was actually formed but buried on the same section of the cemetery grounds as Janes and Roberts) or is it Jarrett Janes (who has the second oldest Death Date on his headstone) or Houston Roberts, as the stories were written?

John E. Briley Headstone photos This headstone was hidden under a bush and when the bush was trimmed the headstone was found and had sunk to the ground where only about 6 inches was showing. Joe Moore discovered this headstone and has carefully been uncovering this head stone

Tallest Headstone This is the tallest headstone in the Cemetery and this Memorial belongs to Grace Lawrence Pierce

Broken Headstones Old and beautiful Headstones-

Funeral markers Mostly Unreadable - includes a group or family of funeral markers for the deceased members and a head stone for the living family member.

C.H. Osborne died at the age 25 on June 10th 1894- He is supposed be buried somewhere in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. He was a partner with J.D. Randolph and had a grocery store in the Town Of Goldthwaite according to his probate. He may have had two brothers living in the State of Kentucky - Henry Martin charged his estate $19.50 for making a coffin Box but we have not found a headstone at this time, Please contact me if anyone has information on the location of his grave. I am looking to identify and locate unmarked graves
Currently I am looking for more information about the following people or person


C.H. Osborne was killed when he was 25 years old, He died on June 10th 1894- Mr. Osborne is supposed be buried somewhere in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

He was a partner with J.D. Randolph and had a grocery store in the Town Of Goldthwaite according to his probate. - Henry Martin charged his estate $19.50 for making a coffin Box but we have not found a headstone at this time, Please contact me if anyone has information on the location of his grave. A death notice written in the Brownwood Bulletin on June 16th 1894 wrote that two brothers living in the State of Kentucky were notified.

Lost Headstones
First Goldthwaite Cemetery

(Before Mills County was formed)
This lost or destroyed cemetery was one of The first cemeteries in Goldthwaite

It was located on the Roach Fox property "backyard"
next to 1607-9 block Old Priddy Road near rail road tracks, after the death of Roach Fox, the few stones are no longer there-possibly removed with the cleanup of the debris by the new owner
If you know of any other persons buried in this backyard cemetery, please contact me

Even though the stones are gone, they are still there and should be remembered. They were the pioneers of this county
