PEVERLY, occasionally Peverell. The former sometimes a corruption of Beverly; Peverell dates from the Conqueror.

1 JOHN (2), Portsmouth, ( approximately 82 in Apr. 1731), had a town gr. in 1674. Summonsed in 1679 for failure to pay rates for some yrs.past, and the only Peverly taxed in 1688. Jury 1684, 1692; O. (d. 20 May) 1769, names 6 ch. Grace, rec. into cov. and bp. No. Ch. 10 Apr. 1709, m. Wm. Ross(4). William, List 339, is poss. a son who d. s. p. by 1730, or Peavey(4).
