List of those who purchased lots
Register of Membership
1895-1905
Several years ago a genealogy researcher in Oklahoma City found two books in the attic of a house she had just purchased. The house had belonged to a member of the Worsham family. The books had been in the possession of Gailen Worsham for a number of years before being left in the house. The researcher had seen a query I posted for information about the Worshams of Rush Springs and forwarded the books to me, along with some water-soaked photos. One of the books was the Register of Members of the IOOF Lodge in Rush Springs and the other was the Rush Springs IOOF Cemetery Record.
I am including here only some of the information from the Membership book. Other columns included whether the member was admitted by card from another lodge or was initiated, when he passed various degrees, when he withdrew, was suspended, expelled, or died, and what offices he held.
As you will notice, there were a great many soldiers among the members. This was during the period when the railroad delivered supplies for Fort Sill to Rush Springs. Supplies were then moved by wagon to the Fort. Many soldiers were stationed then at Rush Springs.
The book is now in the Hampton House museum in Rush Springs.
