KEADY
-------
Keady lies to the south, south-west of Armagh, at a distance of 6 miles, Irish. It is in the parish of the same name and in the Barony of Armagh. The principal streets occupy the side of a hill which rises high enough at different points to afford commanding sites for churches and other buildings. In the valley, at the foot of the town, the river Callan winds along through meadows, plantations and bleach greens, forming a picture of rural beauty rarely excelled. Towards the north and north-west the land is fair. To the south, south-east, and south-west it is not good. Oats, potatoes and flax are the chief crops of the district. Dairying is carried on to some extent by nearly all the farmers. The markets of Keady are held three times a week. . . . . . .
