FRANKLIN PRESTON
1892-1973
Franklin Preston, 81, of West Van Lear, succumbed to an extended illness in a
Lexington hospital on Sunday, December 9.
A veteran of World War I, he was the son of the late Harrison and Lydia Pack
Preston and was born May 30, 1892, in Lawrence County.
He was a retired miner and a member of the United Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Georgia Spradlin of West Jefferson, OH and
Vneeina Childers of Richardson; a son, James A. Preston of Huntington, IN; 11
grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, December 13, in the Chapel of the Jones-Preston
Funeral Home with Reverends Earl Meade and Elsie Banks officiating.
Burial was in the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville with
arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
