Several people from the Thelma Community went together and purchased the property for $120.00 from James W. Fraley and Alice Mable Fraley on November 22 1943 to start a cemetery: The names of those purchasing the property were as follows:

Ward, Ella Johnson, Lizzie Meade, Hetty Daniel, Newt Daniel, Luther Clouse, Nannie Childers, Exer Blessing, Mason Blanton, Essie Johnson, Joe Boyd, Jns Childers, Walter Holbrook, Linzie Travis, Russell Mollett, Shirley Daniel,Troy Daniel, Mac Ward, Albert Boyd, W.L. Preston, Lydia Sellards, Lenoard Childers, and  Anna Lee Gamble.
