MYRTLE BUCHANAN
1914-1967
Mrs. Myrtle Buchanan, 52, died Thursday, May 18 in Newport News,
Virginia, after an extended illness.
Born in Johnson County on October 4, 1914, she was the daughter of
late John and Missouri Phillips Sparks. She had lived at Newport
News for the last 28 years.
One son, Paul Buchanan of Louisville, and one daughter, Mrs. John
L. Lee of Tampa, Florida survive.
Also surviving are three sisters Mrs. Mona Roth of Paintsville,
Mrs. Alma Neely of Hampton, Virginia and Mrs. Maxie Stodghill of
Yorktown, Virginia and four brothers O. B. Sparks of Union, Ohio,
Oakley, J. O. and Chester Sparks of Paintsville.
The funeral was held on Monday, May 22, 11:00 a.m. in the
Paintsville United Babtist Church with F.F. Rigsby officiating.
Burial was held in the Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville
under the direction of the Jones and Preston Funeral Home.
