GLADYS BURKE
1913-2009
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. at Jones-
Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Gladys Lewis Burke, 95, of Warsaw,
formerly of Powell Addition, Van Lear, who passed away July 25 at
Gallatin Health Care Center, Warsaw.
She was born Oct. 10, 1913, daughter of the late Sylvan George and
Laura Ethel Reynolds Lewis. She was a homemaker and a member of the
Concord United Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Tom Burke, who died in
1975; and one daughter, Deloris Jean “Jeannie” Setser. She is
survived by one son, Thomas S. (Wanda) Burke, Brooksville, Ohio; two
daughters, Okalee Jeanette Burke (Bob) Evans, Phillipsburg, Ohio, and
Opaline “Penny” Burke Moore, Warsaw; one sister, Josephine (Claude)
Brown, Lexington; and eight grandchildren (locally, Jamie Castle and
Jennifer O’Bryan), 14 great grandchildren and five great-great
grandchildren.
Services will be conducted by Dewey Mac Mullins, with burial at
Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville.
Arrangements under
the direction of Jones-Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville.
Visitation
today from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday until time of service at the funeral
home.
