Seventy-nine year old John O. Cecil, Sr., died in a Paintsville
hospital on October 31.

The Jones-Preston Funeral Home was the site of the funeral services
conducted two days later by John G. Sammons. Burial followed in the
Highland Memorial Park.

A Van Lear resident at the time of his death, Cecil was a retired
miner and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. His parents
were the late George W. and Carrie Wray Cecil. He was born in
Wellston, Ohio.

Survivors include his wife, Ada Bellomy Cecil; two sons, John Oscar
Cecil of Frankfort and George Harvey Cecil of Huntsville, Ala.; a
daughter in Pikeville, Mrs. O. W. Harris; two sisters, Mrs. Earnest
Kelly of Wellston, Ohio, and Mrs. Pete Lomax in Athens, Ohio; six
grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Bert Grimm, Pat McCoart, John Holbrook, William
King, James Ward, Escom Chandler and Edgar Stapleton. All
arrangements were supervised by the Jones- Preston Funeral Home.
