ALFRED COLLINS
1918-1997
   
Jones-Preston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Alfred
Collins, 78, who died Thursday, January 9, 1997, at Central Baptist
Hospital in Lexington.
   
Mr. Collins was born May 21, 1918, in Johnson County, the son of the late
Samuel and Stella Welch Collins.
     
He was a lineman for Big Sandy RECC, Army Veteran of World War II and a
VFW member.
   
He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Dewayne Collins, in 1998.
    
Surviving are a companion, Elizabeth Holbrook Collins, three daughters,
Lois Scurlock of Tutor Key, Joy Music of Thelma and Sandra Carter of
Louisa; two stepdaughters, Brenda Jones of Wittenville and Judy Parrott of
Brooksville, Florida, one sister Dolly Powers of Richmond, Va., and 14
grandchildren and several great- grandchildren.
    
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 11, at Jones- Preston Funeral
Home Chapel with Jerry Castle officiating.
   
Burial was in Adams Family Cemetery at Sitka.
