THOMAS D. CRUTCHER
1923-2008

MADISON COUNTY

Thomas D. Crutcher, 84, of Richmond, formerly of Ashland, passed away
early Saturday morning, March 22, 2008 at the Ephraim McDowell
Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Mr. Crutcher was born Dec. 21, 1923, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, to
John Breckenridge and Rose Castle Crutcher, both of whom preceded him
in death. He was the husband of Barbara Murray Crutcher. Mr. Crutcher
served in the United States Army 102nd Infantry 407th Canon Company
in World War II, during which time he earned a Purple Heart. He owned
and operated the Crutcher Grocery in Louisa. Mr. Crutcher was a
member of Rush Masonic Lodge 715 F. & A.M., as well as the South
Ashland United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, Barbara; Mr. Crutcher is survived by a son,
Thomas D. Crutcher II (Wilma) of Richmond; three granddaughters,
Heather, Rebecca, and Amber Crutcher, all of Richmond; one brother-
in-law, Dean Murray of Prestonsburg; and four nieces and nephews,
John Newsom of Poca, W.Va., John Alley of Milwaukee, Wis., Sheri
Murray Music and Greg Murray, both of Paintsville.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Crutcher was preceded in death by
three brothers, Paul, Mack, and Jack Crutcher; three sisters,
Rosemary Newsom, Louise Clegg, and Emily Tilson; and one nephew, Mack
Crutcher of Spokane, Wash.

Funeral services for Thomas Crutcher will be today at noon,
Wednesday, March 26, at Young Funeral Home Chapel, Louisa, with Revs.
John Salvage and Jeff Allen officiating.

Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Burial Park, Staffordsville,
under direction of Young Funeral Home.

Masonic Rites were held Tuesday, March 25, at Oldham, Roberts and
Powell Funeral Home, Richmond.
