John Carl Palmer, 74, of West Van Lear, died Saturday, Sept. 19, at
King's Daughters Medical Center, Ashland.
Born March 19, 1935, at Logan, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harv
Palmer and Allie Marie Lovejoy Palmer Lowe. He was a coal mine load
operator and a U.S. Marine veteran.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anna Grace Palmer, in
2007; and a brother.
Survivors include two sons, John Calvin Palmer of Hager Hill and
James Edward Palmer of West Van Lear; a daughter, Paula Ann Blair of
West Van Lear; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Jones-
Preston Funeral Chapel, with Roger Hill and Kenny Collins
officiating.
Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, under
direction of Jones-Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville.
