Thelma Preston, 70, of West Van Lear, died Thursday, June 26, at Paul
B. Hall Regional Medical Center, Paintsville.
  
Born April 25, 1938, in Johnson County, she was a daughter of the
late Jess and Carrie Frazier Stamper.
  
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paris Preston, in
1995.
  
Survivors include a son, Joe Thomas Preston of West Van Lear; two
daughters, Janie Smith of Paintsville and Joyce Sparks of West Van
Lear; three brothers, Lloyd Stamper of Delaware, Ohio, Joe Stamper of
Oil Springs, and Charles Stamper of Hazard; a sister, Marie Conley of
Waverly, Ohio; four grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.
  
Funeral services were Saturday, June 28, at Preston Funeral Chapel,
with Terry Conley and Terry Lykins officiating.
  
Burial was in Highland Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, under
direction of Preston Funeral Home.
