DEWARD B. PRICE
1907-1965

Deward B. Price, 57, West Van Lear merchant and farmer, died
suddenly Saturday, January 30, in a local hospital shortly after
being stricken with a heart attack at his home. He had been in ill
health for a few years but his death was unexpected.

He was a son of the late Everett and Flossie Spradlin Price, and
was born at East Point Dec. 11, 1907.

He had been a resident of West Van Lear for many years, where he
was associated in the merchantile business with his grandfather,
the late B.L. Spradlin. He had continued with the operation of the
store known as Spradlin & Price, and had also been active in
farming and livestock raising.

He had served as a director of the Paintsville Herald Corporation
from 1960 until the corporation was dissolved this year.

Mr. Price was a member of the Church of God.

Surviving besides his wife, Gladys Goble Price, are two daughters,
Miss Rosemary Price, and Mrs. Joan Hummer, and a grandson, Joel
Thomas Hummer, all of West Van Lear.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, February 2, at
the West Van Lear Church of Christ with S.C. Honeycutt and Cecil
Sherman officiating.

Pallbearers were Carlos Goble, William Stambaugh, Bruce Phelps, J.
Milo Preston, Luther Russell, Bill Belcher, John Conley, Victor
Conley, and Kent Phelps.

Interment was made in the Highland Memorial Park at
Staffordsville.
