Merle O'Dell Pyles, 78, of Oil Springs, died Saturday, Oct. 18, at
Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.

Born Jan. 11, 1930, in Hampshire County, W.Va., he was the son of the
late Harold Brooks and Gertrude Francis Hott Pyles. He was an
instructor at Mayo Technical School and a U.S. Army veteran.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Adams; and four
brothers, John Pyles, James Pyles, Bob Pyles and Jennnings Pyles.

Survivors include his wife, Ina Blaine Salyer Pyles of Oil Springs;
four daughters, Anita Gail Harmon of Surfside Beach, S.C., Bobbi
Branham of Tutor Key, Debbie Wright of Sitka and Dianna Lynn Rice of
Oil Springs; a son, O'Dell Forrest Pyles of Oil Springs; two
brothers, Junior Pyles of Kirby, W.Va. and Harry Pyles of Augusta,
W.Va.; four sisters, Madeline Able of Stephens City, Va., Alma
DeHaven of Cainsboro, Va., Betty Toth of Fairfax, Va. and Phyllis
Parks of Augusta, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-
grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Oil Springs United
Methodist Church with Doug Lawson and John Back officiating.

Burial was in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, under direction
of Jones-Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville.
