EVERETT RICE
1900-1962

Everett Rice, 61, well known resident of this city died Saturday
evening, January 13, in the C & O Hospital in Huntington, WV after under
going surgery Wednesday.

The son of the late Harvey and Julia VanHoose Rice, he was born in this
county July 27, 1900, and had been a lifelong resident of this city.

A veteran C & O employee with thirty nine years service, he was an
engineer at the time of his death and was a member of the Brotherhood
Locomotive Engineers.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hazel Lester Rice, whom he married
thirty nine years ago, three sons, Lindsay Rice, U. S. Navy, Moffett
Field, CA, Charley Harvey Rice, Caldment City, IL, Paul Ervin Rice,
Lansing, IL, one daughter, Mrs. Charles Plummer, city; one brother,
Irvin Rice, city; two sisters, Mrs. E. F. Conley, city, Mrs. Cecil
Preston, Kingston, TN.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. today from the Third Street
Freewill Baptist Church with Claude Preston and C. C. Hall as
officiating ministers. Music was by the Paintsville Quartet.

Active pallbearers were Edd Redd, Coke Williams, John L. Spears, Steve
Stout, B. R. Meade, and Roy Ratliff.

Burial was in Highland Memorial Park.
