CARMAN ROBERTS SR.
1890-1967

Carman Roberts, Sr., age 76, died Thursday, March 30, at 2:55 p.m. in
a local hospital after a brief illness.

The funeral was conducted Sunday, April 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the Third
Street Free Will Baptist Church with Claude Preston officiating.

Interment followed in the Highlands Memorial Park at Staffordsville
under the direction of the Jones Preston Funeral Home.

Born November 23, 1890 in Johnson County he was the son of the late
Dan H. and Carrie Melvin Roberts. Roberts, a lifelong resident of
Paintsville, was a member of the Third Street Free Will Baptist
Church.

He was a former telephone and power lineman and also a veteran of
World War I.

His wife who survives is the former May Duncan.

Other survivors include four sons, Billy, Ralph and Carman, Jr., all
of West Jefferson, OH and Danny of Paintsville, a daughter, Mrs. O. L.
Whalen of Fort Worth, Texas, four sisters, Mrs. Fannie Sowards and
Mrs. Leonard Short, both of Huntington, West Virginia and a brother,
Vern Roberts of Paintsville. 15 grandchildren and two great
grandchildren also survive.
